For the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, last night couldn’t have gone worse…
In one of the most one-sided Champions League games in recent memory, Arsenal were the victims of a rout from Bayern Munich, with the Gunners being outmanned and outgunned at every opportunity by the German giants.
It was, in many ways, an embarrassing performance – and the Arsenal fans in attendance are trying their best to forget about it today.
However, unfortunately for the Gunners in the pub, though, the extent of their loss is only going to get worse as more facts and numbers begin to pour out – and the following example is a particularly damning one.
As revealed by OptaJohan on Twitter, Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago completed 36 passes ending in the final third last night – which, remarkably, is just 1 fewer than the ENTIRE Arsenal team managed.
See that Tweet below…
36 – Thiago Alcántara completed 36 passes ending in the final third, one fewer than the whole Arsenal team combined (37). Demolished.

This stat is surprising because it really shows the lack of offensive ambition from the Gunners.
Of course, Arsenal were always going to sit back and try to nick a goal – but the fact that Munich were this domiant surely indicates that the Gunners had no real chance inside the Allianz Arena.
