Inspired Target, Or Sir Alex Just Avoiding The Bigger Picture?

After the wonderful explosion onto the Premier League by Javier Hernandez Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to Mexico in a similar way the Spanish did during the times of the mask hero Zoro.

Following Hernandez is 18 year old Angelo Henriquez, a striker that must be seen as one for the future considering his countrymen, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Wellbeck and even Dimitar Berbatov will be ahead of him in the pecking order. Now, according to a story on Caughtoffside.com which got its source from the Daily Mail, Ferguson has turned his attention to the footballing ‘Zoro’, Hector Herrera.

I have no idea why he has that nickname but from what I have read about him he is a decent box to box midfielder that shows presence and control in the centre of the park. If he was a little taller he would have been very useful on Monday night as Fellaini showed us an example of the type of midfielder Fergie needs to buy if he wishes to get back the title.

With his club in Mexico, Pachuca, reporting they have received ‘a document’ from Manchester United in regards to the central midfielder a deal could be imminent, as most of Fergie’s transfer’s from the country of big hats and tortilla’s have come a bit out of the blue ,this transfer would be no different. He was an integral part of the gold medal winning Mexico team in the Olympics that showed up Brazil as a team of individuals Galactico’s unable to cope with a team that played with unity.

Not only are Manchester United circling the midfielder but king of the makeovers Liverpool are said to be interested. Due to the fact United already have two players within there ranks that could make sure Herrera settles into the rain soaked, football loving city, you’d have to put United above Liverpool in potential destinations. Although there does seem to be an element of the fictitious about this rumour it has spread faster than a celebrities death on twitter.

It looks as though Herrera could be a future Paul Scholes. He isn’t gifted with a  lot of height but seems to have the heart of the ginger ninja and from what I have read no one has a bad word to say about him.

At only 22 though Herrera has potential and it may take time for him to have an impact on the Premier League. It would be good to see a youngster in the middle of midfield at Manchester United as they are far too reliant on Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick.

It is an issue that Fergie seems to avoid addressing. As I said before, Fellaini showed United what they missed on Monday night and another midfielder of a similar build did so in an FA Cup semi final, for local rivals City, two season a go. Yaya Toure can never be handled when he plays the red devils so it’s about time that Fergie faced the music and got a player of high quality and outrageous physique.

‘Zoro’ could be a Mexican Scholes or just another mirage in the sand but sooner or later Fergie needs to look at the bigger picture.
