The Italian club are said to have been impressed with Kompany in the Europa League and are looking to take advantage of the in-fighting at Manchester City and prize the Belgian International away from Eastlands.
AC face Tottenham in the next round of the Champions League and should Kompany make the switch to the San Siro, he would be eligible to play. The promise of assured CL football would certainly interest the 24-year-old and AC Milan look good to qualify for next season’s campaign too as they currently sit top of the league in Serie A.
However, Kompany only signed a 5-year-deal with City in October 2009 which handed the Belgian an incredible salary increase that Milan simply can’t match. Furthermore, with money being of a smaller value to a club like City, it would take a big well in excess of £20million to persuade City to start listening.
The Daily Star are also reporting that Milan may throw in some players, such as their misfit Brazilian, Ronaldinho, as a sweetener in the deal. The former World Player of the Year is out of contract in the summer and has been troubled with inconsistency during his time at AC.
Though City have been linked to a move for the talismanic 30-year-old, it is unlikely that the Eastlands outfit would be willing to meet his £6.5million per annum wage demands given his lack of form and maturing age.
If this one happens I’d eat my hat, well I’d need to buy one first. On that note, if any English club takes the ludicrously expensive punt on Ronaldinho, I’d need to buy another hat and chomp on that too. I suppose it is Christmas Eve and the tabloids will be running out of anything serious to write about, but then, this one did bring a smile to my face.
By the way, on the original story, they had disabled the comments. I wonder why?

I love when get to mention Ronaldinho, it gives me an excuse to post pictures of his fit ex-missus, Alexandra Paressant.
