Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that Tottenham are going to submit an £8 million for Villarreal star Giuseppe Rossi. The 25 year old striker has played for Manchester United, Newcastle and now Villarreal. But, could he make his return to the Premier League?
The striker has scored 54 goals in 136 appearances for the Spanish side and due to their relegation from La Liga this season, he can be bought for a bargain price.
But, the striker has been injured since October last year when Villarreal lost 3-0 to Real Madrid where he was expected to be out for 6 months. However, in April he reinjured his ligament in the right knee which ruled him out of football for 10 months. This means that the Rossi will not be able to even resume training for competitive games until next February, meaning that if any Premier League club is to purchase him, they would not be able to play him for 7 of the 10 month long season.
So could Tottenham possibly be considering a move for the striker?
The odds are incredibly unlikely. With the club being managerless, there is nobody who could effectively decide who the club need to purchase to consolidate their Premier League form.
Also, with Rossi’s injury ruling him out for majority of the season, it would be the stupidest decision to waste £8 million on a player in August, when there is still a transfer window to come before Rossi becomes fit again.
