‘I’ve honestly paid more for a taxi back from Leeds’ – Huddersfield fans erupt after major club news

It’s been a good season to be a Huddersfield Town fan, with the Terriers riding high in the Championship and in with a genuine shot for an automatic promotion slot.

Granted, David Wagner’s men may have to settle for the play-offs with Brighton & Hove Albion six points clear of them – albeit the John Smith’s Stadium outfit do have a game in hand – but there’s still plenty to cheer about, and the club’s announcement that Elias Kachunga has been tied down to a permanent deal has left many delighted.

The 24-year-old has been on loan at Huddersfield from German side FC Ingolstadt this term and has impressed with 10 goals in 37 league outings, as well as a further two assists. The club announced today that the €1.3m (£1.1m) clause in the temporary deal has been triggered to keep him, while the attacker has penned a contract until 2020, ending speculation he may be lost in a few months’ time.

It’s fair to say supporters of the club are loving the news, and here are some of the best reactions…
