Despite reports creeping round the Transfer Tavern that Leeds United are about to be hit with another transfer embargo, there has also been increasing talk from the Stoke Sentinel that the Whites are ready to swoop for Stoke City midfielder Steve Sidwell.
According to the publication, the Whites are ready to switch their attention from QPR midfielder Joey Barton to Sidwell, who only made five starts last season.
Having also played for Arsenal, Reading, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Fulham, Sidwell is hardly shy of experience. Furthermore, given that he is only 32-years-old, Sidwell surely has a few years left in him to try and help Leeds make that long awaited return to the Premier League.
The Sentinel believes that Leeds would prefer to sign Sidwell on a permanent contract, though they may also be willing to negotiate a loan deal for him as well.
At the moment, however, it is difficult to see where this will go, for although it has been a frustrating season for Sidwell, there are surely still come clubs in the Premier League who could come in for his quality.
Leeds United fans….. What do you make of this news? Would you like to see Sidwell at the club? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
