Leeds United will be heading into the 2017/18 season in a bit of strange situation, having had an excellent season but now finding themselves without a manager following Garry Monk’s resignation.
The Yorkshire club have added well to their squad over the last 12 months and will no doubt be looking to once again add some more talent in the summer to launch their assault on promotion next term.
Our landlord has been spending his time this past week with some of the Leeds fans here in the Tavern, and discussion has inevitably turned to who they might bring in during the summer transfer window.
One player who has been mentioned by our pub owner this week is Arsenal and England left back Kieran Gibbs, who is currently valued at £8.5m by Transfermarkt.
The versatile left back has been more or less shunned to sub or squad man at the Emirates over the past few months, and he could well be available in the summer for either a loan or permanent move.
We think a loan move to Leeds could be an excellent deal for all parties, and he would be a willing replacement for the outgoing Charlie Taylor.
Gibbs will offer experience, class, and intelligence at full back for the Whites, who will no doubt be looking to go one further and win promotion next season.
