Leeds United kick off today’s Championship fixtures, with a 12:45pm game against recently relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers. Both teams get the chance to impress in front of the Sky cameras, as an exciting season lays ahead.
With Ross McCormack pledging his immediate future to the club, Leeds United will go into today’s game with high spirits. El-Hadji Diouf is also expected to feature (probable sub) as he looks to earn a one-year deal at Elland Road.
New signings Paddy Kenny, Adam Drury, Lee Peltier, Jason Pearce, Rodolph Austin, Paul Green, David Norris and Luke Varney will all be set to feature, otherwise Leeds won’t have a team to put out!
Both sides progressed to the second round of the Capital One Cup last week, but in contrasting circumstances. Leeds United cruised to a 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town, whilst Wolves had to hold their nerve in a penalty shootout with Aldershot (7-6 on pens).
Bad vibes hang on the shoulders of Wolves at the moment, with Steven Fletcher and Matt Jarvis handing in transfer requests. Steven Fletcher will not feature today, but Matt Jarvis will reportedly be involved.
Leeds United will look to many key factors to help them to a possible victory. A roaring Elland Road is sure to shake up any away team that comes visiting, and with rumours that the new owners at today’s game, Elland Road has never been so full of life.
I expect an incredibly tight game as Wolves have some serious quality in their team. However, many key players are doubtful today (Kevin Doyle, Kevin Foley, Stephen Hunt and Stephen Ward), whilst Jamie O’hara is definitely missing after a double hernia operation.
Predicted Team for Leeds: Kenny, Peltier, Pearce, Lees, Drury, Green, Austin, Norris, Varney, McCormack, Becchio
Predicted Team for Wolves: Ikeme, Stearman, Ward, Johnson, Zubar, Henry, Davis, Forde, T Doumbia, Ebanks-Blake, Doyle/Nouble
