Leeds United host League 2 side Oxford United in tonight’s second round tie in the Capital One Cup. Leeds United destroyed Shrewsbury Town in the first round, easing through as 4-0 winners. Neil Warnock will be hoping for a stress free night as the gloomy takeover saga becomes foggier by the minute.
Neil Warnock will be looking to implement a squad rotation system that is ideal for cup games. The likes of Jamie Ashdown, Sam Byram, Dominic Poleon, Danny Pugh and Andy Gray will be hoping for a slice of the game time action.
With resources firmly stretched at Elland Road, allowing the fringe players to impress in the ‘Micky Mouse’ cup could well help their pledge for a trip to the metaphoric Disney Land that includes wearing a famous white shirt and joining in the Marching On Together parade.
Oxford United have made the perfect start in League 2, with three wins from three in the league. Having overcame League One Bournemouth on penalties in the first round, the current league leaders will be hoping for a major scalp in the form of Leeds United.
It should be a straightforward win for Leeds United tonight, but as many fans know already, nothing is ever straightforward at Elland Road. It SHOULD be a routine 3-0 victory for Leeds United, but with chopping and changing likely I will go for 2-0 to Leeds.
Predicted Leeds Team – Ashdown; Byram, Kisnorbo, Lees, Drury; Varney, Pugh, Norris, White; Poleon, Becchio
