The Manchester United fans who are gathered at the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that a former player could be back playing in the famous red shirt.
The Express is reporting that David Beckham is set to play for Manchester United in a legends game in Australia later this year.
The game will see the former United midfielder managed by Sir Alex Ferguson for the first time since his departure from Old Trafford, which saw the relationship between the pair turn sour in 2003.
The exhibition game against Juventus will see him line up with former players Dwight Yorke, Phil Neville, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ryan Giggs.
Beckham’s last appearance in Australia came during his time with LA Galaxy back in 2010 and it will be interesting to see who line up for Juventus in a game which is bound to sell out.
The Manchester United fans in The Tavern were hopeful that Beckham was going to return in some sort of coaching capacity and are not overly interested in a legends game on the other side of the world.
Could Beckham be utilised in the Manchester United set-up? Let us know what position he’d be best for in the comments below!
