Tottenham Hotspur's summer spending spree is yet to get underway, but they continue to be linked with a handful of talented players.

Doubts over Mousa Dembele's future have stimulated a whole host of rumours linking Tottenham with a new central midfield player this summer, and the latest talent to be added to the list is Lewis Cook.

According to The Daily Star, Tottenham are eyeing up a deal for Bournemouth's rapidly emerging talent, with captain Simon Francis claiming it would take a "£20 or £30 million" bid to prise him away from the Vitality Stadium.

Considering Tottenham have a strong history of utilising young English players, their interest in Cook is well in line with the club's current philosophy.

The 21-year-old deep-lying playmaker has been attracting plenty of attention in the Premier League for his composure in possession, extensive range of passing and confidence to carry the ball forward with purpose.

Following a summer in which Dembele has been heavily linked away from the club, it's likely that Pochettino has identified Cook as the player he wants to sign to replace their midfield lynchpin.

Although he does not possess the same level of physical presence which Mousa Dembele provides in the midfield, there is no doubt that he has the potential to fill the void left by the Belgium next season, and even at £30 million there's no doubt he would eventually represent excellent value for money.

Tottenham are unlikely to be willing to allow Dembele to leave this summer until they have secured the services of a quality replacement, so the arrival of Cook (valued at £18 million by Transfermarkt) could well represent the deal which seals his fate after a successful 6-year stint in North London.
