gotzeSome very exciting rumours are circulating in the Football Transfer Tavern today concerning Liverpool. There are numerous stories linking Mario Gotze to Anfield, with Metro  reporting that Liverpool are keen to capitalise on the World Cup winner’s apparent desire to leave Bayern Munich.

After the recent sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City, Brendan Rodgers has just shy of £50 million in his transfer kitty and The Daily Telegraph are reporting that despite the on-going saga over the signing of Christian Benteke, it will be the German International whom the Reds decide to splash the cash on.

The prospect of the move has been fuelled further since Mario Gotze himself was said to have expressed an interest in playing abroad, tells The Daily Telegraph.

The landlord over by the bar here in the Transfer Tavern surely echoes the thoughts of every Liverpool fan, saying to the punters in the Tavern: “I can’t think of a better player in world football to replace Sterling, he’s young, bags of pace – and scored in a World Cup Final!”.
