According to the Mirror, Liverpool are said to be pursuing Stoke’s star goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as Brendan Rodgers desperately seeks for a new goalkeeper to replace Simon Mignolet.
Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have not been the only ones who have found themselves criticising Mignolet on numerous occasions since his he joined Liverpool.
Fans were expecting mistakes in his first season as it was a big step up from Sunderland, but disappointingly he is still making blunders, which is not acceptable for a team that finished second last year.
And it has been calculated that they would have won the league if they kept the points which were lost through his goalkeeping errors.
And punters in the Tavern feel it is about time they targeted Stoke’s stopper and feel he has got what it takes to make the step up to Liverpool and become a key member of the squad.
Frustratingly for Liverpool fans, they missed out on the Stoke keeper as they were put off by his £15m price tag in 2013, and instead opted for Mignolet.
But if they are ever to snap up Begovic, January is a good opportunity as the 27-year-old is running into the final 20 months left on his contract and they may be able to poach him for £10m.
