Manchester United fans are excited in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mail revealed that Louis van Gaal is keen to sign Brazil’s future star, Douglas Coutinho, from Atletico Paranaense, for an asking price of £7.5m.
But United will face stiff competition from Monaco and Atletico Madrid as both the European clubs are also scouting the 20-year-old.
It is no surprise to hear that the flamboyant starlet has attracted such attention after banging in in seven goals in 25 games.
The reason why his price tag has risen to £7.5m is because he is currently tied down to the club until 2017, which has increased his value.
Although the Brazilian club are desperately scraping the bottom of the barrel for cash as they are struggling to pay off the cost of their stadium which was built for the World Cup in Curitiba.
His representative Taciano Pimenta said: ‘I had a query about interest and Manchester United. Obviously if they want to buy, the interest to sell is there. I go to see if it’s official.’
