Manchester United fans hear the worrying news from talkSPORT in the Football Transfer Tavern that Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar has dismissed talks of moving to Old Trafford.
To add to the bad news, Vlaar has also opened talks with Paul Lambert and the club regarding a new deal at Villa Park, which would truly end any speculation regarding a move to United.
Vlaar has continued his good form from the World Cup and has shone for the club during a difficult period and many thought he would be looking for exit, but it turns out he is fully committed to the cause.
And to clear up any confusion the 29-year-old insisted there had been no contact with Manchester United and confirmed that Preliminary talks had begun with the Villains regarding a contract extensions.
Vlaar said: “I have nothing to say because there is nothing going on.
“I have spoken to the gaffer a few times [about a new deal] but that is it so far.”
This news will be tough for Louis van Gaal to take as the Villa defender was his number one target and now he will to turn his attention to finding a new target in time for the January transfer window.
