Manchester United boss pulls the plug on first summer signing

Toni Kroos It looks like the Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern will have to take down their ‘welcome Kroos’ signs after the deal reportedly hit the buffers.

It had been thought that Toni Kroos was off to Old Trafford within days but according to Metro, Louis van Gaal has cancelled his pursuit.

Kroos was believed to be van Gaal’s top target this summer after taking over from David Moyes earlier this month.

But the Dutchman has already rejected the prospect of signing the 24-year-old despite a deal already being in place.

Reports suggest that David Moyes had done all the leg work to bring Kroos to the club from Germany but it now seems van Gaal has no interest in seeing anymore of Moyes’ targets arrive at Old Trafford.

And that could be a good philosophy considering how well the £27.5 million signing of Marouane Fellaini went.

van Gaal is now set to make his own list of targets as he prepares to enjoy life at United after this summers’ World Cup campaign with Holland.

Manchester United fans. Has Louis van Gaal made the right decision to pour cold water on the Kroos deal? Let us know your thoughts below.
