Marseille ace issues plea to club

It’s been a bit quiet at the Football Transfer Tavern today but our ears have pricked up at a Sky Sports report that details that Marseille forward Andre-Pierre Gignac has sent a plea to the club.

Despite struggling with injuries since his arrival in 2010, Gignac has professed his love for the club, declaring that: “I want to see out the two years of my contract here. When things are going well, there is nowhere better than OM. I want to prove that a Marseillais can succeed at Marseille.”

The forward is concerned that he may soon be deemed as useful to the club as is a flat beer to our landlord and may be let go, however he has claimed that never having had a full pre-season, there has not been the opportunity for him to get conditioned sufficiently. Gignac stated that: “I am not 100 per cent yet, I still need match rhythm. I want a good run up to the winter break to get my form back. After two very difficult years, I don’t have any more time to waste.”

Do you think Marseille should keep Gignac or cut their losses? Vote in our polls below.
