According to Sky Sports, the club have received no bids as of yet for Ross Barkley despite being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, as they’re desperate to sign more English players.
The Sky Blues were tipped to offer £35m for the 20-year-old England international which would initially get rejected but would then lead to negotiations between the two clubs, whilst Everton reportedly want £50m for their man.
But Martinez assured fans in his recent press conference that City had made no contact regarding Barkley.
He said: “It’s a rumour and we’ll leave it there. We have spoken enough in the past about potential interest and I always mention the same, we take it as a footballing compliment and we move on.
“All we want from Ross now is to be able to get him fully fit and get him ready to enjoy his football and to help the team and we’re looking forward to that day.”
Sadly for Barkley he has been unable to continue his exciting young form due to a knee ligament injury, which he picked up prior to their first game of the season against Leicester, which will keep him out until at least November.
