Wolves are considering bringing in Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands on loan from Newcastle, according to The Express & Star.
Mick McCarthy has been quiet this transfer window and will be keen to bolster his squad in the bid to avoid relegation. A blunted attack has seen his side slip to 19th in recent weeks.
Leon Best has been a first-team regular for Newcastle since joining from Championship side Coventry City in 2010. Best has started fourteen games in the Premier League this season, scoring four goals for The Magpies.
However, new signing Papiss Cisse has pushed Best further down the pecking order. The return of Demba Ba, as well as Alan Pardew’s preference of Shola Ameobi mean Best may struggle for playing time.
Lovenkrands has barely featured all season, making just two appearances in the Carling Cup. The 31 year old Dane who has previously played for Rangers and Schalke 04 will not be happy with this situation and will be keen to get back on the pitch.
According to the report in The Express & Star, it is understood Alan Pardew is happy for the pair to leave on loan.
With no disrepect to Best and Lovenkrands, Mick McCarthy should be aiming for more ambitious signings. Are these two the type of players who are going to battle their way out of a relegation dogfight?Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
