‘Need to send a clear message’ – Arsenal fans react as Wenger makes January transfer admission

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their winning run to continue…

After a poor start to the season, Arsenal have been playing catch up ever since, and they need more than a few wins on the bounce in order to keep the pace with the likes of Man City and Man Utd.

However, with Arsenal’s next game just two days away, matters on the pitch aren’t the topic of conversation in the Transfer Tavern. Rather, the Arsenal fans in-house have been discussing a recent admission from Arsene Wenger that the duo of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could be sold in the January transfer window.

Of course, both Ozil and Sanchez’s current contracts at Arsenal are set to expire at the end of the season, and so January would represent the last chance for either player to move away from the Emirates for a fee, and so in that sense it does make sense.

However, you also have to consider that given the short length on their contracts, any move in January is likely to be a very nominal fee, and so perhaps it would make sense to hold on to them for a few more months.

The Arsenal fans on Reddit, however, appear ready to take the first option, and whilst them leaving would be a blow, most supporters appear ready to accept it. Given that this saga has dragged on for a while, it’s quickly grown old for the fans on Reddit.
