Newcastle fans are looking up with an expresion of satisfaction here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Metro claim that Papiss Cisse is set to stay at the club.

The forward had been linked with a move away from St James’ Park over a long running dispute about the new shirt sponsors, Wonga who are of course a payday lending firm with, shall we say, rather steep rates. Cisse claimed that to wear the shirt would be in breach of Sharia law, and as a Muslim it was not something he could do. Now after being pictured in a casino, the player has magically come to an agreement with Newcastle and Mike Ashley and has agreed to wear the shirt – logo and all.

Alan Pardew and the club were standing firm and willing to sell the player should he refuse to wear the shirt and given the other Muslim players in the squad such as Hatem Ben Arfa were happy to wear the logo, the Magpies saw no reason why Cisse should be different. Now the situation is resolved, the club can turn their attentions to other issues – and first on the list would be the future of Yohan Cabaye who has been linked with a move to Manchester United again this week.  Not only that, but fans here want to see some new blood brought into the club and an improvement on the finish last season.

Was Cisse right to resolve the issue? Rate this rumour below.
