The Metro contain a huge blow for Newcastle United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that Loic Remy is considering his future at the club next season.
As our landlord points out, the Magpies do not actually own the player, with him being on loan from relegated Queens Park Rangers for the season. It has been a huge coup for the club, with Remy being their top scorer this term.
Alan Pardew and his men are flying high, yet this is one of the most competitive seasons ever, and despite their excellent run, top four seems a huge ask.
Remy was asked about his future and claimed: ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know. At the moment I don’t know. The president of QPR may want to keep me next season.’
‘I miss the Champions League. It is a very special competition. Next season I can play the Champions League again.
‘We will see what happens, if I stay here or if we play in the Champions League.’
One thing that does seem clear is that if Remy does not want to stay a Newcastle, he most certainly will not want to be involved in the dog fight of trying to keep parent club QPR up should they gain promotion next season.
Will Newcastle attempt to keen Remy? Let us know your thoughts below.
