Magpies fans have received the news from the Sunderland Echo that their skipper Fabricio Coloccini has claimed he will be staying at the club.
Speculation over the defender’s future has been rife for some time now and after some rather ill advised tweets from his partner, who is now back in Argentina, it seemed that once again, his future at the club was under scrutiny.
As our landlord points out however, the player has moved to quash all doubt, and not only called these rumours ‘old news’ but also spoke about the club in glowing terms and made it crystal clear that he plans on seeing out his contract with the Magpies.
He claimed: “It’s nothing – it’s old news. The Press sometimes say things I said months ago, not now.
“I respect the fans. When I go on to the pitch, I always give 100 per cent for this shirt because they give me lots of love, and I have to say thank you.”
Newcastle of course have just seen their fabulous run of form come to an end against Swansea City but will be looking to get right back on track against David Moyes’ men in the live fixture on BT Sport who, as our landlord points out, have been struggling of late.
Will Coloccini stay true to his word and see out his contract on Tyneside? Let us know your thoughts below.
