There are a couple of interested faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Star claim that one Newcastle United player has been offered a final chance at the club.
Hatem Ben Arfa has been in and out of the side this season, and it seems that his manager is not entirely happy with what he has been seeing.
The creative French star was at one time linked with a move to both Arsenal and Manchester United, not to mention a fair few clubs abroad to boot – yet as our punters note those links are now firmly in the past.
Magpies manager Alan Pardew was asked about the future of the former Lyon and Marseille player and claimed: “Hatem needs a good finish to the season and he’s aware of that for a number of reasons.
“I could go back through my managerial career and choose many players who I was never going to play again and yet I selected them.
“At the moment, Ben Arfa has Sissoko and Gouffran in front of him and then there is Luuk de Jong, who in my opinion has done well and Papiss Cisse who is a natural goalscorer, who we all know needs a goal.”
Our punters note over a game of pool that after losing Yohan Cabaye to Paris Saint-Germain, the Magpies need all their players on form and firing, and Ben Arfa certainly has not been doing that.
Do you think there is a way back for the Frenchman or are his days in the Toon numbered? Let us know your thoughts below.
