Nottingham Forest confident winger will ignore big transfer interest this summer

In a campaign that promised so much at the start of the season, the Nottingham Forest fans here in the Transfer Tavern are glad to see the back of the 2017/18 season. Indeed, with Aitor Karanka now preparing for his first full season in charge at the City Ground, our resident Reds are hoping for a better go of things.

With that in mind, the sense of optimism amongst them has only been raised following claims in yesterday’s Transfer Centre LIVE put on by the Daily Mail at 11.52AM. While Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are understood to be tracking Forest’s latest youngster – a skilful young winger called Alex Mighten – those behind the scenes at the City Ground are understood to believe he’s likely to commit his future to the club.

Mighten has represented the club at U23 level and the fact there is a feeling of confidence he will extend has gone down a storm in the Tavern. Over the last few years, Forest have had a number of youngsters break through into their ranks and, hopefully, Mighten can play an exciting role next season.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Staying at Forest is probably a good thing for the winger. While United’s academy is obviously pretty high-level stuff, developing at a club that has a promising track record in giving youngsters a platform to grow could be a better move in the long run. Indeed, perhaps it could even add to his value too, should he impress.
