Pardew Increases Bid To £7M

Newcastle United believe they have found the ideal candidate to lead the line and wear their famous No.9 shirt, in PSG hit man Mevlut Erdinc, according to MirrorFootball.

The magpies have upped their previous £5m bid to what is thought to be around £7m to bring the Turkish international to Tyneside, and in terms of football betting bwin have slashed their odds on his imminent arrival.

Erdinc had a fantastic first season in the French capital netting 19 times in all competitions after signing from FC Sochaux for nine million euros.  The previous campaign has witnessed the 24 year old fail to repeat his spectacular form proving a frustrating year for the danger man which has seen him booed by his own supporters.

Unfortunately for Alan Pardew his number one target is determined to stay and prove all his critics wrong at the Parc des Princes and he told L’Equipe,

“I stay in Paris, I want to impose myself here and I do not fear competition. I’m ready. Anyway, there is always competition, at all clubs.

After only two season’s for PSG that has seen him rattle the net 23 time in 53 league appearances It seems highly unlikely he will depart this summer for as little as £7m, considering he is tied to the club until 2013… plus he is happy to stay with his current employers.

So unless Mike Ashley is prepared to dig deeper to bring him to St James’s, I just can’t see this one happening…
