The Manchester City supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting extremely excited having read the papers and checked social media this morning, with reports intensifying that the club are set to secure a deal to sign Brazilian full-back Dani Alves.
The Citizens are set to sign the world class performer for a paltry sum of £5 million, according to The Guardian, in what will surely be one of the best pieces of business during the summer transfer window.
The 34-year-old played just 19 league games last season having spent some time out with a fractured leg, although he was a key part of the team that reached the Champions League Final and missed just one game in the competition.
Despite the fact that he isn’t getting any younger his pace and experience of winning trophies will be key assets to Manchester City as they go in search of the Premier League title during 2017/18.
Our landlord has been checking his emails on his tablet here in the Tavern this morning and it looks as though the news is going down pretty well among the City faithful.
Here is the best of what is being said on Twitter this morning…
Pay it, absolute peanuts

I wouldn't pay them a penny. A free I could understand but not paying for a 34 year old who is past his best
