Manchester City maintained the pressure on table topping Liverpool with comfortable 3-0 win over Huddersfield this afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s men dominated from start to finish against the David Wagner-less Terriers, and never really looked like coming away from West Yorkshire with anything but three points in the bag.
City will continue to push the Reds too, and it is not this season which will be of any major concern for the Blue half of Manchester.
However, the coming years are going to be a big few years for the club, with some of the top talent at the Etihad reaching the end of their prime, and replacements no doubt needing to be identified by the powers that be at City.
We at the Tavern feel they need to be acting in the next few windows, and one man we think they can’t miss out on is French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
The powerful Lyon midfielder is a solid player in the middle of the park and continues to make a name for himself over in Ligue 1, and he is only going to get better too given he is still only 22-years-old.
Ndombele is exactly what City will need in the middle of the park when the irreplaceable Fernandinho begins to wind down, and signing the Frenchman now would give both players time to work together to ease into a seamless transition.
Guardiola will know he has to act in the coming windows, and Ndombele surely will be somewhere on his list of potential targets.
