Manchester City managed to secure a narrow victory over West Ham United at the Etihad yesterday, which helped keep the pressure on Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title.
The Citizens now have a much easier run of fixtures to look forward to with games against Bournemouth, Watford, Fulham and Cardiff City to come in the Premier League.
However, it looks as if Pep Guardiola is more focused on a possible summer raid at this moment in time, as according to Goal.com, Manchester City are keeping tabs on Luka Jovic.
The Serbian international is currently on loan at German side Frankfurt from Benfica and it’s safe to say that he’s enjoyed a successful loan spell up until this point, having produced 21 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances.
With that being said, here are the potential consequences of signing Luka Jovic in the summer…
Gabriel Jesus is currently spending time out on the sidelines due to injury, but it’s safe to say that he wasn’t exactly a regular starter when fit as he’s struggled to work his way into the side at times with Sergio Aguero constantly firing.
Indeed, Luka Jovic’s potential arrival would only make things harder for the Brazilian as he would inevitably be behind another striker in the pecking order, which could result in him being ditched by Manchester City. Of course, the forward isn’t going to want to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench with a bright future ahead of him.
PEP LANDS PERFECT AGUERO PARTNER
Sergio Aguero has been in sublime form in the current campaign but he’s lacked support at the pinnacle of the attack in the form of another striker, with Gabriel Jesus being the only other striker option and he’s injured right now.
Of course, securing the services of Jovic would boost City’s options in the final third and could provide Aguero with the perfect strike partner. Jovic loves to hold the ball up well and can turn and pick a pass, which would allow Aguero to make runs in behind and could provide him with more chances and space to operate in, as well as lightening the load on his shoulders as he’s been Manchester City’s go-to man in the current campaign.
