The Preston North End supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are jumping for joy this morning after they read an intriguing piece in the landlord’s copy of the Irish Independent.
The publication reports that Aiden McGeady could be offloaded by Everton this summer and he is expected to be let go at a cut price fee, with the Lilywhites the overwhelming favorites to land the tricky forward.
The 31-year-old spent the season on loan at Deepdale and his eight goals in 35 appearances saw him build up quite a rapport with those of a Preston persuasion and his permanent signing would represent quite a deal for the Championship club.
The Republic of Ireland international has just 12 months left on his deal with the Premier League club and they are now prepared to let him go for just £2 million – a snip for any club in the second tier to consider.
A couple of North End supporters are having some lunch and a pint here in the Tavern and they think that manager Simon Grayson should act quickly before any other clubs build up any interest in McGeady.
Preston North End supporters, would you welcome McGeady to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
