QPR bid for Swedish international

QPR have been linked with several defenders already this January transfer window, and news has reached the Football Transfer Tavern via The Guardian that Harry Redknapp has made a bid for his latest target.

Redknapp has reportedly bid £5 million for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson, whose impressive displays this season have also caught the attention of Arsenal. However the Baggies have reportedly turned down the bid, with manager Steve Clarke insisting the club have no reason to sell.

Clarke said: “I can confirm a bid has been turned down and I don’t encourage any more bids because Jonas is not for sale.

“I have spoken to Jonas and he says he is loving the football here and is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“He will remain a West Brom player and we don’t have to sell anyone. He is not for sale so there is no figure which is reasonable.”

QPR’s defensive displays have been a worry this season, and Redknapp’s number one priority this transfer window is to strengthen that department.

He has already been linked with a move for Tottenham’s William Gallas by the Daily Mail, and was hoping to tempt West Brom to part company with their Swedish international centre half, who will possess a £4million buy out clause in the summer.

The Swede is thought to be keen on a move to London for family reasons, but has reservations about QPR and their precarious position.

QPR fans, would Olsson make a good signing? Would the potential partnership of him and Gallas be enough to keep you in the Premier League? Vote in our polls below.
