QPR set to break ties with bad boy?

One of our most talked about players here at the Football Transfer Tavern is troubled QPR player Joey Barton, who the Mail Online report could be extending his stay in France.

The bad boy turned twitter philosopher has a list of misdemeanour’s longer to read than it takes Balotelli to wrap a Christmas present and is hardly ever out the news. Parent club QPR offloaded the player after a rather eventful final game of last season and Barton has been plying his trade on loan for Marseille in Ligue 1 this term.

Whilst becoming quite an integral part of the Mediterranean giants, Barton has not been wasting his free time and anyone can see how much the player enjoys France, even developing an accent to rival that of Steve McClaren’s infamous Dutch attempt.

Marseille are keen to snap up the player and the Mail claim that QPR are willing to let the midfielder go as a free agent in order to prevent him from returning to the club. Spanish giants Valencia are also reportedly interested, yet the 30-year-old is keen on staying in France.

Do you think QPR should let Barton go on a free? Vote in our polls below.
