Real Madrid stopper to make MLS move?

Pints are being placed down at the Football Transfer Tavern as news has reached our ears over the future of Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas. The Spanish International has told Spanish radio station La Sexta that he feels his future could lie away from Los Blancos.

Casillas disclosed that he feels the MLS may be the perfect way to ease into retirement and given the tempestuous relationship the Real Madrid skipper has with boss Jose Mourinho, rumours have been flying in Spain that the champions cannot keep both of them happy at the club.

One of football’s most decorated players claimed: “I would like to play out my football in the future in a more relaxed environment and if I have to play somewhere else then it would be for a team that would not come into direct competition with Real Madrid. For example in the USA, which I love.”

Of course as our landlord points out, Casillas would not be the first former Madrid player to entertain the idea of the MLS with Beckham leading the way with his move to LA Galaxy in 2007, and despite Madridistas feeling that they need to crack open the sambuca, there is a silver lining on the horizon – Sergio Ramos has this week claimed that he wishes to ‘retire with Real Madrid’ and has confirmed his intention to see out his playing days at the club.

Should Casillas make the move Stateside? Vote in our polls below.
