QPR fans have been on the booze more than most this season at the Football Transfer Tavern after winning just a solitary Premier League game since August but there could be good news this January as Goal.com report that Harry Redknapp is interested in bringing Liverpool’s Joe Cole to Loftus Road.
Of course Harry is well known for transfer window dealing and this one looks set to be no exception. Cole is a player Redknapp knows well from their days together at West Ham United and with no shortage of admiration between either party, a move for the England international is certainly on the table.
Cole has suffered a nightmare over the last couple of seasons with injuries and exile, and the midfielder is now struggling to break into the Liverpool side under Brendan Rodgers. Redknapp did admit that: “I’d like to bring Joe here if I can but the deal would have to be right for the club.” Wages of course may prove to be an issue with the club unable to pay anywhere near what Liverpool are currently paying Cole, yet with the former Chelsea man just wanting to play and keen on a return back to London, a compromise is likely to be reached.
When questioned over further acquisitions, Redknapp echoed the recent words of Fulham boss Martin Jol and claimed: “It’s difficult at this time of year, it’s very difficult to make signings. Who’s going to let people go? People hold you to ransom if they know you’re desperate. It’s a very difficult time.”
