Sir Alex Would Be Insane To Refuse Bids Remotely Close To £25M

The next Cristiano Ronaldo, a sporadic genius or an inconsistent spoiled brat. Whatever you view Nani as you may not know him as a Manchester United player for much longer.

The man who has a marble statue of himself in his house is apparently upsetting some important people at Old Trafford and will be set to leave at a cut rate price, according to the Mirror. Over the transfer window a deal worth £25 million to Zenit St Petersburg looked done but apparently the Portuguese winger decided on turning his phone off over transfer deadline day.

Apparently he is angry over a promise of a £120,000 a week contract being forgotten about, it can’t be cheap to keep a marble statue of yourself clean, and the Portuguese winger is considering behaving like a toddler even more by running down the remaining two years of his contract so he can leave on a free. Nothing like behaving in an unprofessional manner to get the potential employer’s attention.

Nani is fast becoming the scapegoat for Manchester United and although I think it is unfair to put all the blame on one player he isn’t helping his cause. Ever since Ronaldo left people have been waiting for Nani to step up and begin playing with consistency rather than doing nothing for 5 games then scoring a 30 yard screamer.

During the away win to Arsenal at the start of 2010 Nani was awesome on the wing, showing one Theo Walcott how it was done and grabbed 2 assists. One of which could have gone down as a goal after a ludicrous dribble on the wing he chipped Almunia from an outrageously acute angle to put United back in the driving seat.

The season after that Nani managed 10 goals and 20 assists for United in all competitions as well as helping and under performing Portugal qualify for the Euros. However that seemed to be the last of Nani’s dependable form as after this he seemed to only turn up when he felt like it. He didn’t manage an assist or a goal from the 19th April 2011 till the end of August the same year when United beat Arsenal 8-2 and I reckon even Bebe could have scored a goal that day.

Throughout last season Nani’s contribution to games is patchy at best with the majority of his goals or assists coming against teams from the lower half of the table. A goal and an assist against AVB’s Chelsea team and ‘that’ goal against Tottenham at Old Trafford last season are the only goals to come against teams that weren’t relegated or fell into mid table obscurity.

This season seems to be the culmination of all Nani’s frustrating performances as most United fans I speak to are now getting sick of him and it seems the manager is too.

With Antonio Valencia showing Nani how to act like a model professional with his awesome pace shown against Liverpool last weekend which ended up in winning the penalty, his willingness to fill in at left back, consistent crossing and sitting on the bench without ever moaning, the return of Ashley Young from injury soon and Danny Wellbeck being deployed on the wings nowadays Nani may soon find himself way down the pecking order, especially if said reports from the Mirror are true.

Considering the amount of money that Nani cost and that Berbatov is considered a failure by many Manchester United fans, Nani has been good in bits for United and excellent in such a short space of time you forget it happened straight afterwards. Sir Alex needs funds to sort out his non-existent midfield this January and even though Nani is valued at £25 million rumours of a £12 million deal to Juventus are on the cards.

He will be remembered for some wonderful goals and back-flipping celebrations but a great player he will not be remembered for.
