Just yesterday in the Football Transfer Tavern we were discussing the future of Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao and today we have turned to another full back. The Mail Online report that Ashley Cole is firmly on the radar of Real Madrid.
The experienced full back has been nothing short of magnificent during his lengthy career in the Premier League and despite being shall we say less than adored in North London, Cole’s ability has never been in doubt. Of course, as with Frank Lampard, Chelsea seem to be willing to let Cole leave and the player is not short of offers.
The 32-year-old is coveted by both Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain, who are willing to fight it out for the player who of course both former Chelsea managers Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti know well. As our landlord points out, Chelsea have Ryan Bertrand waiting in the wings, and are sniffing around current Real full back Fabio Coentrao.
Both Cole’s potential suitors are willing to offer the England International a three year deal. Cole himself would relish the chance to link up with either Mourinho or Ancelotti with both clubs playing at the very highest level – something current club Chelsea cannot actually boast after their embarrassing exit from this season’s Champions League group stages.
