A mass walkout has just happened here at the ‘Football Transfer Tavern’ after the ESPN staff wandered in talking about Gareth Bale. It appears that many of the punters are sick and tired of hearing about Tottenham Hotspur’s talisman.
Despite the bar being more or less empty now, the staff from ESPN did have some interesting news for the few of us that remained. They believe that the Premier League side have received a £86 million bid from Real Madrid for the Welsh international but are yet to respond.
Many a discussion have gone on in the Tavern about whether Bale should stay or go but ESPN believe that the 24-year-old has now made up his mind, that he wants to leave White Hart Lane in order to experience Champions League football on a regular basis.
When asked about Bale, after Tottenham’s 6-0 win over South China, Villas-Boas said:
“I don’t want to comment on anything like that,” Villas-Boas said. “I cannot speak about anything.”
If all this pans out as ESPN expect then, the former Southampton man, would become the most expensive footballer ever, eclipsing the £80 million that his potential employers paid for his potential teammate, Ronaldo.
