Our punters here at the Football Transfer Tavern are wondering which Sunderland players are now going to be deemed nothing more than an empty broken glass this summer, as reports circulate that certain players will be axed before the start of the new season.
The Chronicle is reporting that ex-Brighton ace Liam Bridcutt could be the one to face the chop from Dick Advocaat this summer, where he could potentially be offloaded to Derby County, a club who themselves have been very active in the early stages of the window.
It is fair to say that Bridcutt was very much brought to the club as a result of Gus Poyet, who of course worked with him at Brighton.
However, while Bridcutt has not been horrendous for the Black Cats, it appears that Advocaat does not rate him as the man to help bring Sunderland away from a relegation battle this season. As a result, it appears that Bridcutt may have to drop down back to the Championship again, in order to reignite his career.
