Nothing pleases the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern more than seeing a young Lilywhite progress through the ranks in North London.
Mauricio Pochettino has built quite the reputation for overseeing youth development during his tenure at Tottenham, and next season, he needs to take it up a notch.
He’s seen incredible success on the pitch with some of his pet projects, and so bringing another through the ranks next season makes perfect sense.
There are a number of credible contenders, but our landlord thinks that young Reo Griffiths really has the potential to make an impact.
An attacker by trade, Griffiths has had an absolutely sensational season in the Tottenham developmental system. He’s bagged a simply stunning 27 goals in the Under-18 Premier League, which is particularly impressive when you learn that he did it in just 20 games.
Clearly, then, he knows exactly where the net is – but that isn’t all that he can do. The attacker provides fantastic passing and pace, making him a great link-up target, whilst he’s also able to play down the wings if needed.
Significantly, Tottenham are in need of attacking depth. Beyond Harry Kane, the Lilywhites are lacking offensive depth, with Fernando Llorente, in particular, struggling.
Griffiths has clearly outgrown the developmental system, and so naturally, the next step is to move into the first team.
