Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier is said to be leaning towards a move for Villarreal’s 18-year-old youth prodigy, Guillermo Andres Lopez. The Daily Mail have reported that the former Liverpool boss is said to be keeping tabs on La Liga starlet.
Teenage striker, Lopez, is yet to play for the club’s first team, but his exploits for the youth team have won him International plaudits. The forward has hit the net six times in the last 135 minutes for the youth team, catching the eye of several top European clubs such as Barcelona and Dutch outfit, PSV Eindhoven.
‘ Guille’ has represented the Valencia region at youth level several times against competing regions. This is regularly seen as the initial steps to representing Spain internationally and suggests a bright future for Lopez.
Villa have a sparkling collection of upcoming youth stars such as Barry Bannan, Marc Albrighton and Ciaran Clark. Houllier would love to add to his blossoming collection of starlets and such a fantastic policy on youth development could sway any move for Lopez in Villa’s favour.
