The Mirror revealed in the Football Transfer Tavern that Aston Villa fans are reassured by their owner Randy Lerner as he is planning ways of hanging onto his two star players, Fabien Delph and Ron Vlaar.
As discussed in the Tavern, the pair have picked up a lot of interest, with Vlaar being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, whilst a cluster of top Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Fabien Delph.
In a bid to keep hold of them, manager Paul Lambert and chief executive Tom Fox are due to fly to America, for a meeting with Lerner, as they hope to draw up a plan to keep hold of them both.
Lerner has recently found himself more and more involved with the club after failing to find a buyer, after he put the club up for sale.
And punters in the Tavern expect the plan to be, reject all bids in January and survive the transfer window by keeping hold of all their assets, before discussing contracts with the players.
Although this could be a risk, as Vlaar and Delph’s contracts expire in the summer, meaning they could leave the club on a free.
