Week In Pictures – Lionel Messi wanted alive and healthy

messi.jpgLionel Messi, the world’s best footballer, is known for consistently breaking records as part of the marvellous Barcelona side and it is very rare when critics accuse him of failing to deliver in big games but after subdued performances for Barca against AC Milan and Real Madrid questions are being asked.

He looked something of a shadow of his usual brilliance at the San Siro last week as Barcelona fell to a 2-0 Champions League first leg defeat and again on Tuesday he was very quiet with his fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo stealing the show for Real Madrid in a famous 3-0 Camp Nou victory in the Copa del Rey.

The four-time Ballon d’Or winner remains the top scorer in La Liga with 38 goals and he has incredibly scored more individual goals than 16 other teams in the league but he has struggled to get to grips with well-organised defences in recent weeks.

You may wonder why we’re sat talking about Messi’s frustrating last two games but this hilarious picture has emerged in the Football Transfer Tavern and it has left punters chuckling into their afternoon pints. We’re pretty sure that Messi will make up for his disappointing week before the end of the season but for now lets have a laugh at his expense as after all it doesn’t happen very often.
