The striker has been in the news constantly due to the £7.5 million buy out clause in his contract which has been as talked about just as much as Santa Claus in recent months, and the player has been linked with just about everyone in recent weeks. Yet with Arsenal and Newcastle still to reach a deal, Wenger has claimed that the player will not make a switch to North London any time soon.
The long serving Arsenal manager stated that: “I wouldn’t like to put Newcastle or us or him in an uncomfortable position. If you ask me ‘do we sign Demba Ba?’ I say no.” He did however express his admiration for the player who he claimed to like a great deal and felt the 27-year-old has done more than enough to justify the interest in him.
Wenger also spoke about former hero Thierry Henry, disclosing that the two are “very close” and on the topic of a loan spell yet again during the MLS off-season he admitted that: “I have not completely (ruled out a second loan spell) but I haven’t spoken about it with him at all.”
