Wenger Weighs Up Trading Walcott For £15M Rated Nervous Wreck

As talks of a new contract continue to be put on hold for Theo Walcott, the Gunners have been linked with a big-money move for Sevilla’s Jesus Navas.

The 26-year old Spaniard has been linked with a £15 million move to North London and is seen as a replacement for Theo Walcott. Navas continues to impress at Sevilla and no doubt would be a hit in the Premier League. He will also settle well, playing alongside his compatriots Cazorla and Arteta.

We all know that Theo has failed to live up to his expectations. Watching him play for Southampton, I was genuinely excited that a world-class player would soon emerge, as long as he received the right guidance. He made his move to North London at a very young age and would even be a surprise selection for Sven’s world cup squad. However, Walcott has never performed consistently.

He continues to be somewhat of a marmite figure at the club. Many still believe that he will come good and achieve his potential. Others believe that he needs to go. What must also be frustrating for the fans is that Walcott is wanting to sign much improved terms on his contract, something he is not deserving off.

With that in mind,it seems that Wenger may be doing some very good business by allowing him to leave and bringing in Navas. “La Joya” (The Pearl) would be the perfect replacement. He has established himself in La Liga and would bring much-needed experience to the Arsenal side.

However, things are never that simple. Firstly, Arsenal will need to match his asking price. Secondly, and more importantly, Arsenal will have to find a solution for his homesickness. Navas is well-known for suffering from it, often having anxiety attacks when he spent long periods of time away from his family. No doubt Navas would be fighting for a place in the Spanish national side if he didn’t suffer from homesickness. Therefore, with this is mind, you will have to consider the likelihood of Navas packing his bags and making the move to London.

With three days to go until the window closes, watch this space.
