Always nice to have new faces in the ‘Football Transfer Tavern’ and today we have a debut appearance for Alan Nixon of the Sunday People.
Alan certainly knows how to make an entrance, he has silenced the bar with the news that West Ham are set to make a surprise move for Norwich City’s Robert Snodgrass.
The former Leeds United player has been a huge success since joining the Canaries (several of us had him as captain in the Transfer Tavern’s fantasy football game, last season) and therefore it is surprising that Sam Allardyce believes he can get the Scottish international.
Alan believes that the Hammers will tempt Chris Hughton with a bid of £5 million but a few Canaries here scoffed at that figure and one even suggested that they wouldn’t sell for £15 million (to be fair, he is on his fifth pint).
West Ham are actively seeking a right-winger with their recent pursuit of Lille’s Salomon Kalou proving fruitless but it appears that there may still be cash to splash at Upton Park, despite reports suggesting the Hammers had blown their budget on Liverpool’s Andy Carroll.
