It has been a while since we had Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern after their recent relegation from the Premier League but today a group have arrived and are sat near to the dart board discussing a Sky Sports report that claims new manager Dean Saunders is not planning to do major business in the January transfer window.
Saunders saw his Wolves side draw 0-0 away at fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday yesterday but the Welshman still believes that the current squad does not need ‘major surgery’.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m getting a clearer picture of what we need to do well in this league,” Saunders added. “I don’t think there’s major surgery needed. We just need a bit of tinkering around.
“Two games and we’ve let in just one goal so it’s the start I wanted. This will give us some belief after the last away game (FA Cup defeat to Luton).”
The Molineux outfit have been linked to moves for Norwich City striker Simeon Jackson and Doncaster winger David Cotterill since Saunders took charge as he looks to move the club away from the bottom half of the Championship following the ill-fated reign of Stale Solbakken.
