The Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are excited about next season. Indeed, though the Blues in our bar were thrilled to win the FA Cup, they are hoping for much better things in the Premier League, no matter who the manager may be.
With that in mind, our west London locals are already looking ahead to the summer window. Chelsea have fallen behind the likes of Man City, Man United and even Tottenham and it’s time the club undertook one of the big summer spends they became so famous for in the mid-2000s.
Last summer didn’t quite go to plan and fans online have already identified a deal they could get on board with. Many fans are taking to Twitter to urge the club to swap flop forward Alvaro Morata with Inter Milan’s outrageously clinical Mauro Icardi (as has been suggested in Spanish outlet Cadena Ser, via Italian publication CalcioMercato.)
The aforementioned Argentine finished the season as Serie A’s joint-top scorer and surely could move to the European elite at any given moment, while Morata endured a mixed first season on these shores.
Having said that, here’s a look at the calls on social media.
I just saw that Morata + €40m for Mauro Icardi rumor. Yes please.

New we are talking.
Lewandowski is great, Higuain is amazing, but Icardi is the real deal.

Icardi looks more realistic, sensible than Lewandoski…he has a release Clause….younger and Inter are interested in Morata….but knowing Chelsea, they will probably drag till Madrid miss their other targets and come for Icardi

He is a waste man. We need a striker that can finish not a waste man. Costa would've buried those. We wanna swap Morata + 35M pounds for Icardi. Hope that happens

Morata+cash for Icardi would be great business, but Icardi is probably not going to leave Inter when they are finally back in the Champions League, and I would give Morata one more season to prove himself. It is an entirely different case if Morata wants to leave. #Chelsea
