The goalscoring was opened by Hull’s Jordy de Wijs, who turned past his own ‘keeper after a cross from the right-hand side from Helder Costa [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50639231).

It was doubled just under 10 minutes later after [Ezgjan Alioski](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50639231) slotted home after Patrick Bamford had hit the post following a counter-attack from the Whites.

Kiko Casilla was at his superb best as he carried on where he left off from against Huddersfield Town, making two saves [(via WhoScored)](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381569/Live/England-Championship-2019-2020-Leeds-Hull). One of his saves was a stunning point-blank one from Hull’s Tom Eaves and that set-up the counter-attack for the second goal.

Luke Ayling was also in brilliant form as he was at the heart of everything good in defence, making the [second-most tackles and joint-second most interceptions](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381569/LiveStatistics/England-Championship-2019-2020-Leeds-Hull).

However, it was the £10.8m-rated, [as per Transfermarkt,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/helder-costa/leistungsdaten/spieler/173900) Costa, who managed to go under the radar with his performance in attack for the Elland Road outfit.

The Portuguese man was a threat in attack all evening as he had the [joint-most shots (3) and played the joint-most key passes (2)](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381569/LiveStatistics/England-Championship-2019-2020-Leeds-Hull)of any Leeds player. He also [completed the second-most dribbles (4)](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381569/LiveStatistics/England-Championship-2019-2020-Leeds-Hull).

Leeds Live agreed with this assessment of Costa’s performance as they gave him an eight out of 10, commenting on his lively performance.

They said: “Finally the night we have waited for. Looked lively from the first minute and had more space than ever before behind his left-back marker. Pace and timing critical to prying open the Hull goal late on.” [(Source: Leeds Live)](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-player-ratings-hull-17397401)
