# Unsung Heroes: Celtic’s Ryan Christie did not score but performed brilliantly in win over St. Mirren

**Ryan Christie was one of many players who produced a great performance for Celtic against St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership as the Hoops came away with a [2-1](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX) victory on Wednesday**. **We have taken a closer look at his performance in the latest edition of our Unsung Hero feature.**

Celtic have won all but one of their fixtures this season, with the other being a draw, per [SPFL](https://spfl.co.uk/clubs/celtic/results), so it has been a pretty solid start to for the [reigning Champions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/startseite/verein/371). They thrashed Ross County [5-0](https://www.sofascore.com/ross-county-celtic/cXspX) at the weekend, but this latest fixture wasn’t as easy as they went [behind in the first five](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX) minutes.

Goals came from defender Shane Duffy, who has now made it [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/shane-duffy/profil/spieler/119269) in his first [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/shane-duffy/profil/spieler/119269) appearances for the Hoops, and James Forrest, per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX), and they rightfully stole the headlines. However without the impact of Christie it would have been interesting to see if Celtic would have picked up the three points from the tricky away fixture.

The midfielder played all [90](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX) minutes and clearly it was a great decision by Neil Lennon to only use the Scotsman for [20](https://www.sofascore.com/ross-county-celtic/cXspX) minutes in their last fixture to keep him fresh as he dominated in the middle of the pitch. The [25 year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-christie/profil/spieler/188077) completed 43 passes, with six of them being key passes, per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX), whilst he also finished the game with five accurate crosses and two accurate long balls.

He clearly was the creative spark on the pitch, as not only did he create three big chances, he also assisted both goals, completed all four of his dribble attempts, and even helped out defensively as he made one interception, one tackle and two clearances, per [SofaScore.](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX)

Christie shone in this performance, picking up a 9.8 rating from [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-celtic/cXsjX), and it showed how essential he is to the club, especially in the odd occasion when they are behind. If he continues to perform in this manner, then there is no doubt that the Hoops can [retain](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/startseite/verein/371) the title and make Scottish history by being the first team in the country to win the title [ten times in a row](https://talksport.com/football/537546/celtic-vs-rangers-who-has-won-more-scottish-premiership-titles/).
