# Aston Villa: Fans react to potential Callum Wilson bid

**Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a [transfer report linking](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-set-make-transfer-18858536) the club with a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.**

After suffering relegation with the Cherries, the [four-cap England international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-wilson/nationalmannschaft/spieler/123682/verein_id/3299) will seemingly want to find a route back to the Premier League.

Villa, who stayed up on the final day of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw with West Ham United, will look to make some improvements to their squad and it is expected that boss Dean Smith is keen to add a new striker.

Having seen the likes of Wesley, Mbwana Samatta, and Keinan Davis all struggle to find [consistent goalscoring form](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24/Show/England-Aston-Villa), Smith is now being linked with a move for Wilson.

[The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/08/08/mike-mcgraths-transfer-notebook-liverpool-monitoring-olympiakos/) were the first to report that a deal for 28-year-old, who has netted [41 times in 126 Premier League matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-wilson/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/123682), could emerge; and that has been followed up by a report from [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre) claiming that a bid is being prepared.

Reacting to the transfer report which was shared by Twitter account @AVFC\_News, these Villa fans gave an opinion on a potential move – while many had their reservations, one supporter claimed that they would prefer Wilson to [fellow Villa transfer target](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/12547046/aston-villa-watkins-brentford-toney-transfer/) Ollie Watkins of Brentford.

> If we pay 30M for Wilson but can’t pay 25M for Watkins we are finished as a club

> We’re going backwards down the pecking order. This is such a frustrating period, as many clubs have done most of their business and we have nobody as yet
